Neighbourhood policing report from PCSO Sophie Perfect – Maidenhead Riverside and Belmont  New PDF Print E-mail
Bulletin Article Crime
Description
I am Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Sophie Perfect and I’ve been part of the neighbourhood policing team in Maidenhead Riverside and Belmont for just over a year.

Since my colleague PC Michelle Roberts last gave an update, we’ve been continuing to tackle the issues which local residents have told us are priorities: anti-social behaviour, speeding and parking.

To reduce anti-social behaviour, we’ve been carrying out high-visibility patrols in the neighbourhood, particularly in areas where we know that nuisance behaviour is a problem, such as the North Town area, and also liaising with the Royal Borough’s anti-social behaviour team to help find alternative ways of tackling the problem.

Speeding

With regards to speeding, we are currently planning a speed enforcement day, during which we will be visiting speeding hotspots with the speed gun and stopping any drivers caught speeding. In the future more members of the team will be trained on the use of the speed gun, so such speed enforcement days will hopefully become a more regular feature. Residents may also have noticed the electronic speed indication devices which have been placed periodically at various locations in the neighbourhood, for example Ray Mead Road, to warn motorists when they are travelling too fast.

Parking

On the subject of parking, Royal Borough parking attendants are responsible for making sure that people don’t park illegally. However, we still deal with dangerous or obstructive parking. In our neighbourhood this is a particular problem the closer you get to the town centre, as people often try to park as close to the shops as they can without having to pay for parking. So we’ve been placing warning letters on cars which are parked irresponsibly, or getting them ticketed or removed if they cause an obstruction.

As well as working on the neighbourhood priorities, I often visit local schools and care homes, meeting residents of all ages and listening to their concerns. We’ve also been holding monthly beat surgeries, where a member of the team is available to discuss issues, take reports of crime or have a general chat. Anyone who would like to come along to one of our forthcoming beat surgeries is encouraged to do so – they will be held on Tuesday 2 September and Tuesday 7 October from 6pm to 8pm at St. Joseph’s Church, Cookham Road, Maidenhead. No appointment is needed.

PCSO Perfect and her colleagues, Sgt Adrian Blades and Neighbourhood Specialist Officer (NSO) PC Michelle Roberts, can be contacted via the single number: 0845 8 505 505. In an emergency dial 999.
